April 2010 Update – Follow our trek to India!
Happy Spring everyone! WOW! What an amazing month for Across Borders! Thanks to the incredible generosity
and organization of a few new sponsors and volunteers, we are building an incredible momentum for the organization
as a whole, and for our upcoming school-assessment trip to India. In early April, Mark will be traveling to
the Himalayan mountains with Dilip Dutt, our partner based in Calcutta. The purpose of the trip is to assess the
needs of a few schools in the more remote mountain areas we will support. Some of the schools are in danger of
closing their doors, as early as June 2010, due to political instability and economic disparity. Thanks to a
few amazing local sponsors, we are confident we will be able to continue the momentum and funding to keep the
schools open for much longer than anticipated.
We wish to give a special thanks to Paul and Sue Jordan from the LiveItWell organization. Sue and Paul donated
their fitness center for a few hours two weeks ago, and coordinated an amazing fundraising luncheon for our
organization. The turnout and enthusiasm was tremendous, and we ended up organically creating what is now the first
official Across Borders chapter in Avon, OH. This incredible group of people also donated a generous amount of
coloring books, crayons, puzzles, small toys and stickers to take with us on our trip to India. We look forward to
your continued partnership, thanks to everyone involved!
Stay tuned for our "notes from the field" blog as we travel to India.
Enjoy the warm breezes and sunshine!
